Is GTA 6 coming to mobile? Android, iPhone and every GTA 6 APK explained
Search the Play Store or the web for GTA 6 on mobile and you'll find dozens of apps and APKs. None of them are real. Here's why, what they actually do, and which GTA games you can play on your phone today.

GTA 6 is not coming to mobile. There’s no Android version, no iPhone version and no official GTA 6 app. The game launches on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
Every “GTA 6 APK”, “GTA 6 mobile” download and Play Store or App Store app using the GTA 6 name is fake. Security researchers have found these apps containing malware, serving aggressive ads and signing people up for premium subscriptions. Here’s why GTA 6 can’t run on a phone, how the fake apps work, and the real ways to play GTA on mobile.
Why GTA 6 can’t run on a phone
Even the most powerful phones are far behind a PS5 or Xbox Series X for a game like GTA 6:
- Storage. GTA 6 is expected to be 150 to 200 GB. That’s more than the total storage of many phones.
- Processing power. GTA 6 runs at around 30fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X during development, according to Rockstar North. A phone chip running on battery can’t match that.
- Heat and battery. Running a game like this would drain a phone in minutes and make it overheat.
- Rockstar’s history. GTA 5 never got a native mobile version, even 13 years after its release. Rockstar’s mobile releases have always been older, lighter GTA games.
So when an app claims to be “GTA 6 for Android,” it can’t be the real game. At best, it’s a cheap imitation. At worst, it’s malware.
What fake GTA 6 apps and APKs actually do
| Type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Fake “GTA 6 Beta” app | Uses Rockstar branding, has no game, shows ads and redirects to malware sites |
| APK download sites | Offer a file that installs malware, adware or spyware |
| “Verify to unlock” apps | Make you complete surveys or offers to “unlock” the game. Nothing unlocks |
| Subscription traps | Sign you up for premium-rate subscriptions or in-app charges |
| Clone games | Cheap open-world games using GTA 6 screenshots and names |
APKs are the most dangerous. Installing an APK from outside the Play Store means skipping Google’s security checks. A fake GTA 6 APK can request permissions to read your messages, see your screen or act as a device administrator, which can let it steal logins and two-factor codes.
How to spot a fake GTA 6 mobile app
- It’s for Android or iOS. GTA 6 isn’t on mobile. That alone means it’s fake.
- The developer isn’t Rockstar Games. Rockstar’s real apps are published under “Rockstar Games.” Fakes use names like “GTA 6 Official” or “Grand Theft Studios.”
- It’s an APK from a website. Real games come from the Play Store or App Store.
- It asks for unusual permissions, like accessibility, SMS or device admin access.
- It asks you to complete offers or surveys.
- The reviews look copied or are all five stars with short, generic text.
What to do if you’ve installed a fake GTA 6 app
- Uninstall it immediately. On Android, go to Settings, then Apps, find it and tap Uninstall.
- Check device admin and accessibility settings. If the app has device admin rights, remove them first, or it may block uninstalling.
- Run a security scan with Google Play Protect or a reputable antivirus app.
- Change your passwords from another device, starting with email, banking and gaming accounts.
- Check for subscriptions in the Play Store or App Store and cancel anything you didn’t sign up for.
- Contact your bank if you entered card details.
The real way to play GTA 6 on your phone: remote play
There is one legitimate way to play GTA 6 on a phone, but it needs a console. If you own GTA 6 on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, you can stream it from your own console to your phone:
- PS5: the PS Remote Play app on Android or iPhone streams games from your PS5.
- Xbox: the Xbox app supports remote play from your Xbox Series X|S.
The game still runs on your console at home. Your phone just shows the picture and sends your controls. A stable, fast internet connection and a controller connected to your phone make a big difference.
Will GTA 6 ever come to mobile?
Rockstar hasn’t announced any plans, and a native mobile version is very unlikely given that GTA 5 never got one. The more realistic possibility, in the long run, is cloud streaming, where the game runs on a server and streams to any screen, including phones. A former Rockstar developer has suggested streaming could eventually bring the game to more devices, but GTA 6 hasn’t been announced for any cloud service.
GTA games you can play on mobile today
If you want GTA on your phone right now, these are official:
| Game | Notes |
|---|---|
| GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas (Definitive Edition) | Released on Netflix Games for subscribers. Check availability in your region |
| GTA: Liberty City Stories | Paid app on Android and iOS |
| GTA: Chinatown Wars | Paid app on Android and iOS |
| Original mobile ports of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas | Paid apps on Android and iOS, where still listed |
If you’re excited about GTA 6’s return to Vice City, GTA: Vice City on mobile is a fun way to see where it all started.
A short history of GTA on mobile
Rockstar has brought GTA to phones before, but always with older games:
- GTA: Chinatown Wars launched on Nintendo DS in 2009 and later came to iPhone and Android.
- GTA 3 came to mobile for its 10th anniversary in 2011.
- GTA: Vice City followed in 2012, and San Andreas in 2013.
- GTA: Liberty City Stories arrived on mobile in 2015.
- The Definitive Edition trilogy of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas came to mobile through Netflix Games in 2023.
Each of these was years old when it reached phones, and much less demanding than a modern console game. GTA 5 never got a mobile version, and GTA 6 is far bigger still.
PlayStation Portal and cloud streaming
If you like the idea of playing GTA 6 away from your TV, there are a couple of official options, as long as you own the game on console:
- PlayStation Portal is Sony’s handheld device for streaming games from your own PS5 over Wi-Fi. It works with games you’ve installed on your PS5, which would include GTA 6.
- PS Remote Play and the Xbox app do the same on phones and tablets.
These all rely on your own console doing the work. What GTA 6 doesn’t have, at least not announced, is true cloud streaming, where the game runs on Sony or Microsoft’s servers with no console needed.
Is GTA 6 on Netflix?
No. Netflix has offered several older GTA games for its subscribers, but GTA 6 isn’t one of them and hasn’t been announced for Netflix. Any app claiming to be “GTA 6 on Netflix” is fake.
Why fake GTA 6 apps keep appearing
Fake apps exist because GTA 6 is one of the most searched games in the world, and scammers know that some people searching on their phones will tap the first result they see. App stores remove fakes when they’re reported, but new ones appear just as fast, often with slightly different names or icons.
You can help by reporting fake GTA 6 apps in the Play Store or App Store. Open the app’s listing, scroll to the bottom and choose “Flag as inappropriate” on Google Play, or “Report a Problem” on the App Store.
Checklist before installing any GTA app
Before you install anything with “GTA” in the name, check:
- Publisher: is it “Rockstar Games” or, for the Definitive Edition on Netflix, “Netflix”?
- Store: is it on the official Google Play Store or Apple App Store?
- Game: is it a game Rockstar has actually released on mobile, like Vice City or San Andreas?
- Permissions: does it ask for anything unusual, like SMS, accessibility or device admin access?
If the answer to any of the first three is no, or the last is yes, don’t install it.
If someone sends you a link to a GTA 6 mobile download in a group chat or on Discord, don’t open it, and let them know it’s a scam. Their account may have been compromised and be sending the link automatically.
The bottom line
GTA 6 isn’t on mobile, and every GTA 6 APK or phone app is fake. Many are designed to steal your data or money. The only real way to play GTA 6 on a phone is remote play from your own PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. If you want GTA on mobile today, the official Vice City, San Andreas and GTA 3 releases are the real deal.
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026. See every platform’s status and how to avoid GTA 6 download scams.
