GTA 6 characters: Lucia, Jason and every confirmed character so far

GTA 6 is built around two playable protagonists, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, a couple who turn to crime together and end up caught in a conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida. Around them, Rockstar has introduced a supporting cast of drug runners, music moguls, conspiracy theorists and bank robbers.

This guide covers every character Rockstar has confirmed so far, based on the official GTA 6 website and trailers, with no story spoilers beyond what Rockstar has shown.

The protagonists

Lucia Caminos

Lucia was the first character the world saw in GTA 6. Trailer 1 opens with her in a prison jumpsuit, talking about her past, and quickly makes clear she’s done playing by other people’s rules.

Rockstar’s official profile describes Lucia as someone taught to fight from a very young age, whose life has been a series of battles ever since. Fighting for her family is what landed her in Leonida Penitentiary. When she gets out, she’s determined to make smarter choices and build a better life, which, this being GTA, doesn’t go entirely to plan.

She’s the first female lead of a 3D-era main GTA game. The original 1997 Grand Theft Auto let you pick from several characters, including women, but none had a story of their own.

Jason Duval

Jason is introduced properly in Trailer 2. According to Rockstar, he grew up around grifters and crooks, and tried to straighten himself out with a stint in the army. The launch trailer hints that it didn’t go smoothly.

After the army, Jason ends up in the Leonida Keys, doing what he knows best: working for local drug runners. That’s where he meets Lucia, and where things start to get more complicated.

How Lucia and Jason work together

GTA 6’s story is framed as a partnership. The trailers show them pulling robberies together, covering each other in shootouts and planning jobs as a team. It’s been compared to classic outlaw couples, and Rockstar has leaned into that in every trailer.

In gameplay, you can switch between them, as you could between Michael, Franklin and Trevor in GTA 5. The August 2026 extended look showed them working together and splitting up to play separately. Read more in our GTA 6 gameplay guide.

The supporting cast

Rockstar has published official profiles for six more characters. Here’s who they are and how they fit in.

Cal Hampton

Cal is Jason’s friend and an associate of Brian Heder. He’s happiest at home with a beer, scrolling the darker corners of the internet for conspiracy theories. He’s the classic GTA comic-relief sidekick, and probably the source of plenty of funny phone calls.

Brian Heder

Brian is a veteran drug runner based in the Leonida Keys, and the man Jason works for. He’s been in the business a long time and knows the Keys inside out. Expect him to be one of the first big figures in Jason’s side of the story.

Boobie Ike

Boobie Ike is a Vice City local legend with business interests across the city, including a strip club. Most importantly, he’s behind Only Raw Records, the music label that ties several characters together.

Dre’Quan Priest

Dre’Quan is a music producer and Boobie’s partner in Only Raw Records. He’s always been more of a hustler than a gangster, and he’s betting big on the label’s acts, especially Real Dimez.

Real Dimez

Real Dimez are a rap duo, made up of Bae-Luxe and Roxy, signed to Only Raw Records. They’ve had viral success before and are trying to turn it into a lasting career. Rockstar counts them as one profile, which is why the supporting cast is six profiles but seven people.

Raul Bautista

Raul is a seasoned bank robber who recruits talent for risky jobs. He’s confident, experienced and always looking for his next crew, which makes him a natural fit for the heists the trailers keep teasing.

There are two clear groups: Jason’s Keys crew (Brian and Cal) and the Only Raw Records circle in Vice City (Boobie, Dre’Quan and Real Dimez). Raul sits apart, as the most obvious link to bigger heists.

Will there be more characters?

Definitely. Rockstar has only introduced the characters it wants players to know before launch. Every GTA has a large cast, and GTA 6’s story will introduce many more: rivals, police, family members and, almost certainly, a few surprise appearances.

Rockstar has kept the main villains and story twists under wraps. Treat fan theories about who betrays whom as speculation until the game is out.

Will old GTA characters return?

Rockstar hasn’t confirmed any returning characters. GTA games usually exist in their own continuity, but small nods and cameos are common. GTA 5’s world included references to earlier games, and Vice City’s return makes fans hopeful for nods to 2002’s GTA: Vice City.

Be wary of “leaked” lists of returning characters. None have been confirmed.

Who are the GTA 6 voice actors?

Rockstar hasn’t officially confirmed the voice and motion-capture actors for Lucia, Jason or the supporting cast. Rockstar traditionally keeps its cast quiet until launch, then credits everyone in the game and on its website.

Some names have circulated online, but none are confirmed by Rockstar, so we’re not listing them here. We’ll add the official cast after launch.

The biggest change is the relationship. GTA 5’s three leads were thrown together and often at each other’s throats. Lucia and Jason are partners in every sense, which gives the story a very different emotional center.

Who is the main character, Lucia or Jason?

Both. GTA 6 is built around two equal protagonists, not a lead with a sidekick. The trailers split their focus between them, Rockstar’s official materials always present them together, and the extended look showed missions designed around them working as a pair.

Lucia was revealed first and opened Trailer 1, which led many fans to call her the main character. Trailer 2 then put Jason front and center. Expect the story to switch between them, with some missions focused on one, some on the other, and many with both.

How to follow the characters before launch

Rockstar’s official GTA 6 website has a full page for each character, with screenshots and short descriptions. It’s the best spoiler-safe source, since Rockstar decides exactly how much to reveal. Avoid “leaked story” videos if you want the plot to stay a surprise. Many are fake, and the real ones spoil the game.

Spoiler warning for launch week

When GTA 6 unlocks at midnight local time, players in New Zealand and Australia get almost a day’s head start on the Americas. Story details, character deaths and twists will spread on social media within hours. If you want to discover the characters yourself, mute keywords like “GTA 6 ending” and the characters’ names until you’ve played.

The bottom line
