Rockstar has released four major GTA 6 videos since the game was revealed: two story trailers, a long gameplay showcase and a launch trailer. Together they’ve shown Lucia and Jason, the state of Leonida, a large chunk of gameplay and a soundtrack that already has fans hunting for songs.

Here’s every GTA 6 trailer in order, when it came out, the music used, and the key things each one revealed.

Every GTA 6 trailer in order

Video Released Length Focus
Trailer 1 December 4, 2023 About 90 seconds Lucia, Vice City and the 2025 window
Trailer 2 May 6, 2025 About 2:45 Jason, the story and the May 2026 date
Extended gameplay look August 2026 About 26 minutes Real gameplay, systems and activities
Launch trailer October 15, 2026 About 90 seconds Lucia and Jason, with the release date

GTA 6 Trailer 1 (December 2023)

The first GTA 6 trailer was planned for December 5, 2023, but a low-quality copy leaked online the day before. Rockstar responded by releasing it early, on the evening of December 4.

It opens with Lucia Caminos in a prison jumpsuit, talking to a parole officer, and quickly moves into a montage of Vice City and Leonida: crowded beaches, nightclubs, swamps, highway chases and, of course, plenty of “Florida Man” moments recreated as in-game social media clips. It ends with Lucia and Jason robbing a store together, and the title card with a 2025 release window.

Song: “Love Is a Long Road” by Tom Petty, from his 1989 album Full Moon Fever. The song’s streams jumped massively after the trailer, a sign of how big GTA 6’s cultural reach already was.

Record views: Trailer 1 broke YouTube’s record for the most views of a non-music video in 24 hours, and passed 90 million views in its first day.

What Trailer 1 revealed

  • Vice City is back, for the first time since 2006’s GTA: Vice City Stories
  • Lucia is a playable protagonist, the first female lead in a 3D-era GTA
  • Social media runs through the whole world, with residents filming and posting everything
  • Leonida is far more varied than Los Santos, with wetlands, beaches, small towns and a dense city

GTA 6 Trailer 2 (May 2025)

Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025, just days after Rockstar announced the game’s first delay, to May 26, 2026. It’s longer and more story-focused, and it properly introduces Jason Duval.

The trailer sets up the couple’s story: Jason, who grew up around criminals and hustlers, and Lucia, out of prison and looking for a better life. It hints at the job that goes wrong and pulls them into a conspiracy across Leonida. It also introduced several supporting characters, who got full profiles on Rockstar’s website at the same time.

Rockstar said Trailer 2 was captured entirely on a PS5, which answered a lot of questions about whether the visuals were realistic for consoles.

Songs: The main track is “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters (1986). Other music heard in the trailer includes “Thunder Island” by Jay Ferguson, “Child Support” by Zenglen, “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” by Wang Chung and “Talkin’ to Myself Again” by Tammy Wynette.

What Trailer 2 revealed

  • Jason’s story and how he meets Lucia
  • The supporting cast, including Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder. See our GTA 6 characters guide
  • More of Leonida, including the Keys, Grassrivers and Port Gellhorn
  • A huge jump in detail: crowds, lighting, water and character faces

GTA 6 extended gameplay look (August 2026)

In August 2026, Rockstar released a roughly 26-minute extended look at GTA 6, captured on PS5. It was the first time Rockstar showed long, uninterrupted gameplay rather than a cinematic trailer.

It opens with a drug pickup that goes wrong and turns into a shootout, then moves between story missions, driving, police chases, character switching and side activities across Vice City and the rest of Leonida.

What the extended look revealed

  • Cover-based shooting with pistols, rifles and shotguns, and the ability to disable enemies
  • A focus system (holding L2) for interacting with characters and animals, like Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Character switching between Lucia and Jason, together or split up
  • A wanted system that reportedly reaches six stars and tracks what you wear and drive
  • Side activities including basketball, diving, airboats, scooters, racing and more
  • No microtransactions in single-player, according to Red Bull’s coverage

GTA 6 launch trailer (October 15, 2026)

The launch trailer came out on October 15, 2026, five weeks before release. At about 90 seconds, it’s short and cinematic, and it shifts the focus away from the world and back onto Lucia and Jason.

It ends with the classic GTA narrator saying the game’s name, followed by the release date and age rating. That format is built for TV and cinema ads, so expect to see cuts of it everywhere in the run-up to launch.

Music: The launch trailer debuted a new track from Justice, the French electronic duo composing GTA 6’s original score: “Flower in a Hurricane,” featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, according to coverage of the trailer.

What the launch trailer revealed

  • More of Jason’s past, including a line about trouble during his time in the army
  • New story moments between Lucia and Jason, without major spoilers
  • The November 19, 2026 release date, shown on screen

Will there be another GTA 6 trailer?

Rockstar hasn’t announced one. The launch trailer is normally the last major trailer before release, but Rockstar has a history of short, late videos. Red Dead Redemption 2’s launch trailer came just eight days before release, for example.

Before November 19, expect:

  • TV and online ads cut from the launch trailer
  • Short clips on Rockstar’s social channels
  • More radio station reveals, following the first six in October. See our GTA 6 soundtrack guide

Where to watch the GTA 6 trailers

All four videos are on Rockstar Games’ official YouTube channel and on the official GTA 6 website. Watch them there rather than on re-uploads: some re-uploads and “leaked trailer” videos link to scams in their descriptions. Our GTA 6 free download guide explains how those scams work.

Hidden details fans spotted in the trailers

Fans have gone through every frame of the trailers. Some of the most talked-about details:

  • Real Florida references. Versions of Miami Beach, the Overseas Highway bridges in the Keys and the Everglades are all recognizable.
  • Recreated viral moments. Several in-game social media clips mirror real viral Florida videos.
  • Returning vehicles and brands. Classic GTA car brands like Vapid, Bravado, Declasse and Grotti appear throughout. See our GTA 6 cars guide.
  • Wildlife everywhere. Alligators in pools, in swamps and, in one shot, inside a store.

Treat fan theories about specific story twists with caution. Rockstar has carefully avoided spoilers in every trailer.

Trailer 1 vs Trailer 2: what changed

The two story trailers were released 17 months apart, and the difference shows how far the game moved in that time:

Trailer 1 (2023) Trailer 2 (2025)
Focus Lucia and the world of Leonida Jason and the story
Tone Montage, satire, social media Cinematic, character-driven
Release window shown 2025 May 26, 2026 (later delayed)
Captured on Not stated PS5, according to Rockstar
New characters Lucia, Jason in brief Jason in full, six supporting characters

Trailer 1 sold the world. Trailer 2 sold the story. The extended look then sold the gameplay, and the launch trailer brought it back to Lucia and Jason.

The bottom line

There are four major GTA 6 videos: Trailer 1 (December 2023), Trailer 2 (May 2025), the 26-minute extended gameplay look (August 2026) and the launch trailer (October 15, 2026). Together they’ve revealed Lucia and Jason, the state of Leonida, real gameplay and the November 19, 2026 release date.
