Real-life GTA 6 cars are driving around Miami: every car, and the real models behind them
A convoy of real cars dressed as GTA 6 vehicles, complete with Leonida plates and police paint, has been filmed on Miami's streets. Here's what was spotted, which real cars sit under the wraps, and how it fits Rockstar's Vice City takeover of Miami.

Rockstar has spent years building a fake Miami. This week it started parking that world’s cars in the real one.
A convoy of real cars made up as GTA 6 vehicles, with Leonida license plates and Vice City police paint, has been filmed rolling through Miami and gathering at a gas station. IGN reports that Rockstar modified the cars before sending them out, and Game Rant describes the convoy as part of Rockstar and Take-Two’s launch campaign, less than five weeks before GTA 6 arrives on November 19, 2026.
Our read: it’s a clever stunt, and it says something Rockstar never says out loud. Under the wraps are the very real cars that GTA’s fictional brands have always parodied.
What was spotted in Miami
The footage that started it came from local social media. According to Game Rant, the account ONLY in DADE filmed the cars stopped together at a Shell station, while an X user posted a clip of the convoy driving through traffic with several Vice City liveries on show. The GTA news account GTA 6 Info (@GTASixInfo) shared photos of a real-life Coquette and a Lamborghini on October 16, crediting an Instagram user, according to Gadget Review.
Gadget Review adds that the gas station footage shows a Vice City-branded Goodyear blimp overhead, which would make this one of the more elaborate pieces of game marketing a city has seen.
The common thread is the plates. The cars wear Leonida plates, the fictional state that stands in for Florida in GTA 6. That detail matters: it’s the kind of touch a fan wrap job rarely bothers with, and it’s why outlets are treating the convoy as official marketing rather than a car club’s tribute.

Every GTA 6 car in the convoy, and the real car behind it
Reports agree on most of the lineup, though not every outlet names every car. Game Rant lists the Cheetah, Coquette D10, Tempesta and Manana, plus a McLaren made up as the Progen Emerus and a Lamborghini Huracán in police livery. HappyGamer’s list of six swaps the police car for the Buccaneer.
| GTA 6 car | GTA brand | What it’s based on | Real car seen in Miami |
|---|---|---|---|
| Emerus | Progen (GTA’s McLaren) | McLaren Senna, in GTA Online | A McLaren, per Game Rant |
| Coquette D10 | Invetero (GTA’s Corvette) | Mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette, in GTA Online | A Chevrolet Corvette, per Gadget Review |
| Police car | Vice City police livery | Not a GTA Online car | A Lamborghini Huracán in police paint |
| Tempesta | Pegassi (GTA’s Lamborghini) | Lamborghini Huracán, in GTA Online | Not specified |
| Cheetah | Grotti (GTA’s Ferrari) | Shown as a ’95 model by Rockstar | Not specified |
| Manana | Albany | Classic American cruiser | Not specified |
The “what it’s based on” column comes from how these cars looked in GTA Online, where all of them except the GTA 6 police car already exist. GTA 6 versions may look different, and Rockstar never names the real models it draws from.
What stands out is how literal the casting is. Rockstar didn’t wrap random rental cars. It reportedly put a real McLaren under the McLaren-inspired Emerus and a real Corvette under the Corvette-inspired Coquette. For fans who have spent years matching GTA cars to their real inspirations, it’s about as close to confirmation as Rockstar gets. We’ve added the missing brands to our GTA 6 car brands vs real life table.
The police Huracán is the most interesting choice. Reports differ on the livery’s exact wording (Game Rant calls it Vice City Police, Gadget Review says Vice Beach Police), but a Lamborghini police car is a very Vice City idea. It also fits the reworked police Rockstar showed in its extended gameplay look. More on how the wanted system works in our GTA 6 gameplay guide.

Has Rockstar confirmed it?
Not in so many words. IGN’s headline says Rockstar modified the cars, and Game Rant attributes the campaign to Rockstar and Take-Two. But none of the reports we checked quotes a Rockstar statement about the convoy, and HappyGamer advised treating the details as early when the first post surfaced.
Our read: it’s almost certainly official. The plates, the coordinated liveries and a branded blimp point to a planned campaign, and it lines up with marketing Rockstar has confirmed in Miami over the past month. We’ll update this article if Rockstar posts about it.
How the convoy fits Rockstar’s Miami takeover
The cars are the latest piece of a push to make Miami feel like Vice City before launch.
The biggest is on the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami Heat. Miami-Dade County, Rockstar, the Heat and the arena agreed to put a “Welcome to Vice City” sign on the roof, according to WLRN, and Local 10 reported the new sign going up on September 22. WLRN describes it as an almost million-dollar deal. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava signed it under her authority to approve contracts under $1 million without a commission vote, and the money is meant to help develop county land behind the arena.
Not everyone was happy. Some county commissioners objected to how the deal was made: one said she’d have appreciated more information, and another questioned splitting deals to stay under the $1 million limit, and Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez proposed sending the money to the Sheriff’s Office instead, saying the game glorifies crime, according to WLRN. He withdrew the motion after the mayor’s office agreed to brief commissioners. WLRN also reports that ideas like a “Vice City Airport” look for Miami International and a wrapped Metromover train were under discussion.

Seen together, the strategy is clear. GTA 6 barely needs advertising to sell, but Rockstar is turning launch into a local event in the city it spent years recreating. Rockstar’s research for the game started with trips to Miami, as we covered in our Bloomberg report breakdown, and the marketing is going back to where it began.
What it means for GTA 6 players
There’s no new gameplay information here, but there are two useful takeaways.
First, the convoy is the clearest look yet at cars likely to be in GTA 6. The Cheetah is already confirmed, since Rockstar shows a ’95 Grotti Cheetah on its Ultimate Edition page. A convoy built by Rockstar suggests the Emerus, Coquette D10, Tempesta and Manana make the jump from GTA Online too, though nothing is final until Rockstar’s vehicle list or launch day. For the full roundup, see every GTA 6 car spotted so far.
Second, expect more of this. Launch is on November 19, preloading opens a week earlier, and Rockstar’s Miami campaign is clearly still growing. If you’re in South Florida, keep your phone handy at the gas station.
